Shonen Jump Magazine Promo

Release: May 2011

JUMP-EN052 Meklord Emperor Granel
EARTH/Machine - Effect/1/0/0
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. When a face-up monster you control is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. This card gains ATK and DEF equal to half of your Life Points. Once per turn, you can select 1 Synchro Monster your opponent controls, and equip it to this card. This card gains ATK equal to those equipped monsters' combined ATK. During your Main Phase, you can select 1 of those equipped monsters, and Special Summon it to your side of the field in face-up Defense Position.

Great

So Grannel is not coming in Extreme Victory. Its good to know that not all of them are going to be expensive to get lol. Next to Wisel Grannel is my fav because of its brutal high attack points if you get it out early enough and its special summoning thing. The Machine Emperors are going to rise lol.

ShiroRyu - 26. Feb, 13:40

Good to know??
This means it's not going to be legal in the UK.
So my Meklord-Salvo-OTK deck is completely scrapped now. :/
Thanks Konami. :(
ShinobiPhoenix - 26. Feb, 17:56

Konami? Do you even know what you're saying...?

ONCE AGAIN:

KONAMI DOESN'T CONTROL PROMOS!!!

Shueisha has DIRECT SAY over which ones we get and when and it's only through arranged negotiations that we get the OCG-promos we do get as TCG Add-Ins at all. Grannel was ALREADY A VJ PROMO and and now it still is. Wisel is likely to remain a promo too (it's a WJ promo), but we'll see. Skiel (and likely the Imperial Castle with it) is the only one confirmed for Extreme Victory and mostly because it's part of VALUABLE BOOK series (VB13) and not a Jump promo. Many VB cards we got as Add-Ins for sets.

Grannel = VJ
Wisel = WJ
Skiel = VB13
Machinicle = VJ
Forrenz - 26. Feb, 23:13

Exactly

Blue Rose Dragon is a strategy book promo, and it's in here too.
ShiroRyu - 27. Feb, 03:12

So we can't really expect Wisel either? Great... :(

As for Shueisha/Konami, I didn't realise that. Why does Shueisha get a say in it anyway? Don't they realise they're causing an expanding rift between the American TCG and the other TCG countries?

Re: Wisel

As far as Wisel goes, it could go either way...

The last WJ magazine promos...
Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord (released as Shounen Jump promo)
Emperor Sem (released in Raging Battle as import)
Victoria (released in Stardust Overdrive as import)
Hundred-Eyes Dragon (released as Shounen Jump promo, and later included in the 2011 Duelist Pack tin)
Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon (first released in Duelist Pack Kaiba, later released in Bonds Beyond Time pack).
Tech Genus Hyper Librarian (released as a Shounen Jump promo)

Over the last few years, we've had two WJ promos that ended up as imports, three WJ promos that ended up being SJ promos, and one WJ promo that was released in a character's Duelist Pack.

Of course, I hope Wisel is a promo. Not only won't players have to pay money for a ScR Wisel hard-of-print in a set, but it will be one less set space that could be used for something else.
ShiroRyu - 28. Feb, 08:43

Does anyone over there actually give a crap about anyone outside Glorious America?

Sure you'll get it cheaper and it won't take up "valuable"* set space, but us non-Americans won't get it for another year if that. By the time we do get it, it probably won't even matter anymore.

*As for set space, you know they'll just give us more Needle Balls and Bloodsuckers instead.

Scraps

They're getting stronger.

Infernity Zero - 26. Feb, 17:26

^^ took the words right out of my mouth.
Infernity Zero - 1. Mar, 22:23

However, this card can also be the downfall of Scraps as well...seeing as long as you take their Synchros from them, and protect Granel.
Dragon King - 26. Feb, 16:27

I like Machine-Types. I was thinking this would happon. Most of the time if theirs a lot of cards in a set,sometimes they will put one of them in SJ...sometimes twice. When i saw the new cards in the next set,i Knew the Emperor cards would show up in the states. And i knew one of them would be in SJ.

HalfDemonInuyasha - 27. Feb, 03:20

Well, it's really solely for sales expansion since Konami knows that there will be many people who will want all of the family, so by putting others of that family into other products rather than simply all in one, it basically forces people to have to buy/subscribe to all those other products to obtain them or wait for a GOOD price for them on E-Bay or something.
TheDarkAngelRocket - 28. Feb, 02:24

Meklords

Grannel is a promo? Not surprising. Shieusha controls when and where promos will be released. Skiel is the only Meklord that wasn't a Jump promo.

Now set space won't be wasted on the Meklords.

Infernity Zero - 28. Feb, 23:06

Good to know that one of the Meklords I like is a JUMP Promo. Now I can Spend $15 instead of $150.
