Forbidden & Limited List Changes

Attention all Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME players, judges and tournament organizers: To continually promote a diverse and enjoyable play environment, a few changes have been made to the Official Forbidden & Limited Lists. The changes are below and are effective for all sanctioned tournaments starting May 9th, 2008.

Advanced Format:
- “Dimension Fusion” is added to the Forbidden Cards List.
- “Return from the Different Dimension” is added to the Limited Cards List.
- “Allure of Darkness” is added to the Semi-Limited Cards List.

Traditional Format:
- “Return from the Different Dimension” is added to the Limited Cards List.
- “Allure of Darkness” is added to the Semi-Limited Cards List.

Duelists cannot include a Forbidden card in their Deck. Only one copy of a Limited card and up to 2 copies of a Semi-Limited card can be included in a Deck.

Yeah! I knew they banned one of the cards to make that card drawing combo! Goodbye Cyber Vally Decks! Yeah!

Doomfire - 8. May, 01:12

this is funny. take that meta players.

isca24 - 8. May, 01:56

I agree :D

Dimension Fusion should have been banned a long time ago, but t's banned now so it doesn't matter. RFTD seems like a logical limited card because it's good, but still not good enough to be banned. Allure of Darkness, well that's just obvious as to why it's semi-limited. Just don't ban DMOC :D

ShiroRyu - 8. May, 02:30

Aha, traded my valleys away at just the right time it seems XD
this should have a positive effect on the game I reckon.

marucho8d7 - 8. May, 07:36

definitely sounds good. banning d-fusion will definitely add some balance to the current meta.

scorchingwolf - 8. May, 14:30

hahaahHAHAHAHAHAHAH

oh this is so funny Dimension fusion is banned it can't mess with my gladiators nor my lightsworn monster EVER!!! hahahahah hell yea.

Cosmos - 12. May, 04:14

i don't know but it seems that banning dimfus also making some serious DAD-counter-decks die, like tundo's OTK or DDT.

Does it mean this banlist just helping DAD decks ?
HellKaiserRyo - 8. May, 14:57

Traditional @ Forbidden changes.

This list is all based off of the Dark Armed Dragon decks that are destroying the Metagame right now. That deck and the Cyber-Valley decks (infinite drawing decks) just took a major hit.

enevil2099 - 8. May, 17:23

Zombies

The undead army will walk on the earth free again

grygera13 - 8. May, 18:36

Goodbye

Taht was a very sweet announcement. Maybe it won't stop DAD decks, but it is a very good begining for the end of nothing, because i don't think that they will ban or make limited-semilimited any of the power cards of his decks. But let's keep a minute of silence for the cyber-valleys and that disturbance reverse of dimensional fussion. and the best thing is that it will delay the decks of Dark things.

Forrenz - 8. May, 18:55

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

OH MAN! Now my 'Yubel' Deck is unstoppable!! Mwahahaha!
Wasn't 'Return' already Limited, or was it just Semi?
I can't wait until the next SJC is reported to see how this goes! Take THAT, you DARK creeps!
This is crazy how, even though Gladiator Beasts and Six Samurai made top ten showings in lots of places, UDE makes a change 2 months into a new format. "Dark Armed Return" was just psychotic, and since it's mostly helped by TCG-Exclusives like 'Allure of Darkness' and 'Dark Grepher', and supported by 'Darklord Zerato', 'Darkknight Parshath', and now 'Dark General Freed', this likely won't be carried over to the OCG.
ShiroRyu - 8. May, 18:43

It will at least make DAD decks less reliable at least. And it couldn't come at a better time! My local hobby shop's holding a tournament for a Crush Card in a week and a bit's time, and I'm the only one with a full Lightsworn deck in my area (even got 2 Ehrens!) XD

ScottAtem666 - 8. May, 19:05

Great

This are some reasonable choices. But they could be better IMO.

Most of us over here were expecting DMOC to get hit aswellas Dimension Fusion. At least DAD is basically dead. It cant return DMOC/Zerato/Multiple Jinzo for game any more as reliably and the drawing is hit by 2x Allure. All combo decks are dead now aswell.

Some people think that the game should REALLY start to slow down now, but it really wont. Gladiator Beasts have new support. Six Samurai is still untouched... And have you SEEN the new batterymen?! 0.o They have their own thunder-DAD. Lightlords have still to prove themselves =/

My views anyhows

Miguel_E - 8. May, 20:19

why Return???

Well,..I have to say that Im happy to see DAD almost gone,...but why return to 1 copy? that card has a use in more than 2 decks,...decks like Dimmensional fissure are dead too, and its not too fair for me, lol.

the Dmoc should be banned instead of making return to 1 or put the dragon to 1 too,...

I agree to say that zombies are free again, maybe the crappy monarch, and the always painfull beast with baboon.....whats going on UDE??...

Maybe I should start to play with fire or plants again,....batterys looks quite good and frogs quite fun,...lightworMs are so expensive jejeje...and yugioh don´t deserve too much money for a long time, ..but still one of the best games ever :D

hamsterworld - 9. May, 00:06

well

Rolleyes that is not fair how can beat remove from play decks if can't use dimention fusion that so un fair. It's unreal well scott you got your wish ebon curran and white magican pikaru are know forced out of my deck by upperdeck.

ShiroRyu - 9. May, 00:47

Removal Decks arent that powerful, plus this limitation hurts them just as much. You can counter removal much easier than you can counter DAD/Valley. Just throw some mobius, dusts, celestia/lyla, etc. at them. Better yet, Cursed Seal their Dimensional Fissure, then play Decree/Jinzo. No more removal.
I reckon we'll see a lot more variety in the meta currently now that DAD's not scaring everyone so much anymore. Gladiators, Samurais, Zombies, Monarchs, Lightsworns, etc. Don't get me wrong, DAD is still quite a threat to be reckoned with, but the changes will mean it's nowhere near as fast and will cut down it's efficiency enough to put it on more level footing with other decks.
Doomfire - 9. May, 01:56

make sure your comments read well. otherwise it just looks like you are a little kid complaining.
sonic_slicer - 9. May, 10:09

wow......

DMoC escapes the ban

I'm happy and sad at the same time (hopefully since dimension fusion is banned...people won't be playing dmoc that much)

Forrenz - 9. May, 17:06

'Escape From the Dark Dimension' is still easy to use with DMoC, so that's possibly at least 3 Spells back from the Grave, plus 1 'Return', so possibly at least 4 times - Don't count it out just yet...
Cosmos - 11. May, 11:20

I'm still using DMOC in my dont-have-theme-deck.
It doesn't need to take dimfus, y know ?
Cosmos - 11. May, 11:18

That doesn't Stop it........

Hey.... DAD decks still unstopable.... Look at SJC Nashville.
It stills get 14 out of top 16.
Damnit....

Hope lightsworn will do their job.....

ShiroRyu - 11. May, 11:19

so true. I played in a tournament yesterday with a DAD deck, i won every round of every duel except against lightsworns.. just need to make sure i have proper sidedeck material for that in the future.
Cosmos - 11. May, 11:22

maybe just take light-imprisoning-mirror will stop it's madness.
Maybe.....
gladiators rule - 12. May, 03:32

yo this should be baned

SUP guys this is gladiators never mind banning dimention and all the card man they need to ban dark magition of caouse like come on like sereyesly the people are smart who ban theys card but some times they ban stupid cads

OK and watch out people at reginoles there are a lot of people runin dark armed dragon and crush cards so watch your back

Cosmos - 12. May, 04:11

your english doesn't sound good..... >_<
ShiroRyu - 12. May, 12:08

DMoC should've probably been banned, I agree (even though I run it lol), but Dimension Fusion being banned is still a big impact. No longer can you swarm from RFP on your turn without setting a Return down and hoping your opponent doesn't kill it. And with Return at 1 too that makes it even more difficult to pull off. So yeah, D-Fusion being banned has helped the game so much. Sure theres 1 less thing to counter macro but if you're expecting it just side Dusts and Catastrophes...
Oh and yeah, DAD and Crush is awesome. :)
