Raging Battle - Sneak Preview

Mark your calendars! Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) is gearing up for its second Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Sneak Peek event. Raging Battle (MSRP $3.99 per nine-card pack) will be released first at local hobby stores participating in the KDE Sneak Peek event on May 2nd and/or 3rd, depending on each store’s preference. The Raging Battle booster set will be available nationwide on May 12th for hobby stores and major retailers not participating in the Sneak Peek event.

Raging Battle picks up where the previous booster set Crimson Crisis left off, with all-new Synchro Monsters, Spells, and Traps. Raging Battle introduces two new families of monsters. Foremost are the Earthbound Immortals – powerful, ancient monsters that are the focus of the current TV storyline. Also included are the new Koa’ki Meiru monsters, a new deck theme specifically designed to counter the most common tournament decks and strategies. Raging Battle also includes many cards used by fan favorites Yusei, Jack, and Leo from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s animated series.

RGBT-ENSP1 Battlestorm
DARK/Winged-Beast - Effect/4/1700/1000
This card gains 100 ATK for each face-up Winged Beast-Type monster you control. Once per turn, if you control 3 or more face-up Winged Beast-Type monsters, you can destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card your opponent controls.

Great Shogun Shine - 10. Apr, 00:30

Battlestorm?

I wonder what that card does?

P.S. First comment! XD

isca24 - 10. Apr, 00:48

Ultra rare?

Is the promo going to be ultra rare, or is that the pack rarity... who knows?! Haha. Battlestorm does sound interesting.

Dragon King - 10. Apr, 01:12

I just hope its somewere need me this time!!!
Last time,sucked!
kyuubinoyouko - 10. Apr, 01:38

Ultra Promo?

I think its going to be a Super promo, then possibly an Ultra in the actual set. A friend of mine just suggested that its a Blackwing card of some sort.

EDIT: From what I've seen of the letter, its an Ultra. Wow.

isca24 - 10. Apr, 01:40

I don't know since Colossal was a Super/Secret. Then again, Rose was Super/Ultra so you could be right. Battlestorm kind of sounds like it could go with Blackwings I guess. Only time will tell :D
ShinobiPhoenix - 10. Apr, 06:46

According to Kevin Tewart...

what he said on Pojo pretty directly hints at it being something that will help Black Feather, however indirectly it actually will remains to be seen.

4 more weeks.

dragonavis39 - 10. Apr, 11:51

yes

dragons dragons dragons i'm really looking forward to this sneak peek.

TheDarkAngelRocket - 10. Apr, 16:30

Battlestorm?

Judging by the name of this card, this could very well be a spell or trap card. I can't see how "Battlestorm" would signal being a monster.

Mr.Archfreak - 10. Apr, 18:58

It makes sense. They had a tuner, a synchro monster, and an assault-mode. So i guess now it's time for a spell/trap card.
ShinobiPhoenix - 11. Apr, 11:27

Not that I would normally care to listen to KTewart but...

he did keep saying "people who like the Blackwing will love this guy."

"Love this guy." Wouldn't that imply a monster?

Still though, ALL the other Sneak Peek cards were monster, all of them.

Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
Volcanic Rocket
Gemini Summoner
Gladiator Beast Octavius
Dark Grepher
Guardian of Order
Avenging Knight Parshath
Rose, Warrior of Revenge
Colossal Fighter/Assault Mode
now Battlestorm

Why change now? Plus, you did notice STORM would fit in the pattern of the other BF/Blackwings (except for the ones in Ancient Prophecy). They all follow a weather, wind or storm reference. Hurricane, Sirocco, Gale, Bliizzard, etc.
Mr.Archfreak - 11. Apr, 16:05

Still...

Ur kinda right, but it doesn't really sound like a monster. What ur saying does make sense though.

P.S. Not all the sneak preview cards have been monsters. The 1s you posted were the modern 1s. Here's the other cards:

Flaming Eternity: Cyber Harphie Lady
TLM: Amazoness Chain Master
Cybernetic Revolution: Embodiment of Apophis (Trap)
EEN: Exchange of Spirit (Trap)
SOI: Ancient Lamp
EOJ: Toon Dark Magician Girl
Power of the Duelist: Hidden Soldiers (Trap)
Cyberdark Impact: Justi-Break (Trap)

And so on

Verfalk - 11. Apr, 20:22

@ Archfreak

The non-monster Sneak Prewiev Promos we're NOT TCG Exclusive. Personally, I think it's not a monster, but it all points at him being that...

TriforceMaster3000 - 12. Apr, 02:22

Don't judge a book by its cover...

Battlestorm, while very well sounding like a spell/trap, COULD be a monster.

Remember Castle Gate? One of the JP promos we got in Phantom Darkness? Just reading the name, it sounds like some sort of s/t. But it's a monster...

...Just pointing that out.

EvilHero90 - 13. Apr, 05:57

if battlestorm was a BW monster then it would say "Black Wing- battlestorm"..thats what i think... but it still sounds to me like a BW support S\T which would b awsome :3 and i do think its a super rare for the sneak and an ulltra on the set.. cant wait to see :P

The-Strawhat - 13. Apr, 15:58

it dont got hto have Blackwing in its name to support BW's. test tiger didn't have Gladiator beast in its name. but i also think its a Spell or trap card.

some ideas:

Battlestorm:
quick-spell
Special summon 1 monster with "Blackwing" from your deck.

Battlestorm:
Counter trap
when you control 1 or more "Blackwing" monsters negate the effect of a card.

Battlestorm:
Contenius Spell
The summon of a "Blackwing" monster cant be negated.

TriforceMaster3000 - 13. Apr, 18:55

Hmm...

Nice ideas. But if battlestorm is a s/t, I see it being more of a field spell. That's just my guess.
ssj_duelist - 13. Apr, 21:09

Blackwing support?

Why do people think this is a TCG exclusive Blackwing support card. Blackwings are an anime archtype, seems weird to have a card released exclusivly to the TCG when its an anime archtype mainly known in Japan

Dragon King - 13. Apr, 22:51

It may just be me,but i feel Assault Mode Monsters in a way sucked!
I hate monsters, spells and traps, that have some kind of tie in to one or more cards in the pack. Like Yubal,i would always pull yubal's form #2(and i bid i'm not the only one). In Crimson Crisis,my friend would only the Assault Mode of the monsters and not the Synchro Monsters. I feel the Assault Mode monster, are just taking up space in the Set.
I'm looking forword to Raging Battle, almost every card in it can be used with no tie ups,to hold you back. Assault Mode was fun,but it was also a pain in the Ass!!
TriforceMaster3000 - 14. Apr, 00:49

Um...

Volcanic Rocket from Force of the Breaker. Volcanics were an anime archetype. But they got a TCG exclusive in the form of Rocket... so apparently, anime archetypes CAN get exclusives.
kyuubinoyouko - 13. Apr, 23:56

Weird

So, from what we can tell, this monster is only, at best, a [strike]1200 ATK [/strike]monster that can destroy a Spell or Trap Card that your opponent controls for each Winged-Beast you control. I don't know about you, but honestly, this isn't a very good card in comparison to the fact that we're getting Delta Crow - Anti-Reverse in this set as well. The only reason its good in comparison to Anti-Reverse is the fact that it can destroy face-up Spell/Traps. I hope that that 700 is actually a 1700 or I can't see this card being played at all.

Also, I have to say in response to the person who talked about Blackwings being an anime archetype in Japan... Raging Battle has an incredible amount of support for the Blackwings that will make the monsters more playable. And a lot of Americans love the Blackwing monsters, so its only natural that they get another Blackwing support card, though it seems that Battlestorm can be splashed in with Harpies as well. And strike the 1200 ATK bit... it was just updated.

patitoroshi - 14. Apr, 00:11

Dark again...

Everything dark... Boring...

TriforceMaster3000 - 14. Apr, 00:52

Ah!

People are misjudging this card. Thanks to the swarming capabilities of the Blackwings, this card can easily be a 4 star 2200 ATK with a breaker ability to use once per turn. He's pretty decent.

Kind of reminds me of Retiari, how everyone was saying he was gonna be overhyped, and wouldn't do anything to Glads at all, yet most of the top Glad decks play him...

Oh well. We shall see how it turns out, but it's looking like a nice addition to anyone's BW deck.

kyuubinoyouko - 14. Apr, 02:04

Battlestorm

I'm not saying this card is bad, I'm just worried about how he'll fit into a Blackwing deck. You'd have to summon him after having summoned a bunch of the Blackwings to give him have a chance of surviving. I'm sure he'll be used, of course, and quite effectively. I just personally won't use him... at least, not in a Blackwing exclusive deck. If we ever manage to get Dark Simorgh over here, I might try a Blackwing/Harpie fusion with him as the main Spell/Trap destruction over cards like Delta Crow - Anti-Reverse and Harpie's Hunting Ground.
brain_master - 14. Apr, 02:37

yup

that storm card is pretty damn good since the blackwing swarm with special summons
TheDarkAngelRocket - 14. Apr, 06:10

Battlestorm

I was wrong; Battlestorm is a monster card after all.
It would have been better if it were a Black Feather monster, similar to how like Volcanic Rocket was a "Volcanic" monster.
Obviously it can be used in a Bird Deck, and has a decent enough effect for a 1700 ATK monster.

EvilHero90 - 14. Apr, 06:59

actually itll be an 1800 monster..he's a winged beast himself :P so its a monster after all..just like all the previews before him...ill use one in my bw deck and one for side deck maybe... with 1800 atack he can survive for himself while i draw a bw and swarm the field...i kinda find him more like stratos 2nd effect than breaker and even if i lose him to a bottomless.. if i have another W-Beast on the field it'll always take the s\t with him... although i was hoping for a field spell support for bw to combine them with alla piscu ^^..i like this guy.. nice sneek preview card not like that shitty colosal fighter Assault mode -_-
TriforceMaster3000 - 14. Apr, 09:53

Yeah, agreed

Colossal was pretty bad. But this makes up for it. I myself don't run Blackwings, was planning on it a while ago, but because of the hype and popularity decided not to, so it's good trade bait to me =D
ssj_duelist - 14. Apr, 18:29

Epic effect

Only need another Winged Beast and then it can take out a backfield one per turn whilst having a decent attack even when it starts out.

wolfchadren - 14. Apr, 22:53

Who cares about Black Wing?

This cards isn't only good for Black Wings but it will also improve Harpie and other Winged-Beast Decks. With Harpie's Hunting Ground and Battlestorm your opponent will think twice before setting an S/T. Having 2 or even 3 Battlestorm on the field also hurts the opponent alot.
Only thing that i don't like about this card is that they made it a DARK. It could have been easily made a WIND monster instead.
Am really curious to the TCG and OCG exlcusives for this set though. Since in the last set we got Prime Material Falcon. Which was bad but at least they are giving Winged-Beast more ways to stand in the spotlight.

Wolfgang DelaSangre - 15. Apr, 05:38

Anyone with enough money to buy 2x Allure of Darkness...

That's who cares about Blackwings. This is a DARK Attribute monster that compliments the swarming power of Blackwings. They don't have any S/T destruction on their own, and not putting Blackwing in this card's name balances it out, but the DARK Attribute still makes it the perfect splash for Blackwings.
ssj_duelist - 15. Apr, 20:24

So anyone gonna run it?

Is anyone gonna run this in threes or just one or whatever?

wolfchadren - 15. Apr, 21:02

Lol

Think everyone has enough money to buy Allure of Darkness when the Raging Battle Special Edition comes out.

I meant with "who cares about Black Wing" that people should look further then Meta Decks. This guy is a great add on for any Deck that has alot of Winged-Beast in it. Besides Black Wing do already get, a kind of broken, S/T destroyer in this set anyway: Deltra Crow - Anti Reverse. So saying they don't have good S/T removal is a lie.
brain_master - 18. Apr, 04:22

y would u run this card it sucks
breaker is much better
J4B0i - 18. Apr, 06:49

wtf? breaker better?

lol can you Icarus Attack a breaker?

bherrell2 - 19. Apr, 05:05

Breaker > Battlestorm

Ok but is Battlestorm a near staple and splashable in tons of decks. Battlestorm is better in Blackwings then Breaker, but overall Breaker rapes Battlestorm.

magikarp - 23. Apr, 20:43

not too sure, but i think the UK sneaks have been changed to 9th/10th.

MaliceBloodlust - 28. Apr, 17:21

Trident Dragon & 10 Exclusives

Trident Dragon I think is gonna change the meta because of its effect Crystal Beast is gonna be brutal with this cards in the extra deck
Have there ever been 10 Exclusives in a single pack before? I actually wonder if there are gonna be any Spellcasters in the set and it looks like Sea-Serpent is trying to be brought into the meta along with Dragons I wonder if they will be competitive eventually
Battle Storm paired with Black Wings, there is gonna be a lot more power in the deck that is already powerful not to mention the support its gonna be getting in this pack
G.B. Hunter is gonna be a staple in decks now thats going to be brutal against GBs but I doubt it will be enough to kill the decks so dont think you dont need the card in tournaments because you will and if you play GBs be very leery about this card get it off the field ASAP this is gonna mess up NEO-Spacian and Rainbow Neos decks as well

ShinobiPhoenix - 29. Apr, 04:03

You must be new to the game or just haven't been involved for a while

There's been a 10 temporarily Exclusive deal (TCG-Ex cards) since Tactical Evolution. Every TCG set since has had 10 TCG-EX cards and OCG-Only Debut cards (cards that were originally promos available only in Japan).

And make no mistake, they are only TEMPORARILY exclusive as OCG has all the TCG-EX from STON to PTDN now in Extra Pack 01. Extra Pack 02 is bound to go from Light of Destruction (LODT) to Raging Battle.

Not to mention, even without that pack, much like how TCG had access to a lot of cards with the video games, OCG has access to the TCG-Ex cards through the video games. Hell, right now, Stardust Accelerator and Tag Force 3 are the only way to use the DTs in English.
dragonavis39 - 29. Apr, 21:35

ummm....

trident dragion needs a dragon type tuner and non-tuner dragon type monsters... cant go in cristal beast unless you try to run gavi-crush or magna-slash dragons. and if so you still need a dragon type tuner and the only on that i can see only working is debris dragon but would you realy try to go though all of that just summon him.
