Structure Deck - Marik

Structure Deck - Marik

From the deserts of Ancient Egypt to the streets of Battle City, Structure Deck: Marik unites the incredible forces of the Tomb Keepers and Rare Hunters into a single Deck, modeled after Marik’s Deck from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series.

Structure Deck: Marik includes a 40-card, tournament legal Deck with cards like Lava Golem, Gil Garth, Legendary Fiend, Metal Reflect Slime, and Mirror Force! It also comes with a full assortment of Gravekeeper’s monsters, protecting the treasures of the Kings of Egypt!

As a special bonus, Structure Deck: Marik also includes 2 additional Ultra Rare cards: Temple of the Kings and Mystical Beast of Serket! These cards – used by Odion while he impersonated Marik in the Battle City finals – bring the total of this Structure Deck to 42 cards. (Please note: Temple of the Kings will be a Forbidden card for Advanced Format tournament play. But this is your chance to get it for your collection. And you can still use it in casual Duels with your friends, or for Traditional Format events!)

And don’t forget that Marik’s most famous monster, The Winged Dragon of Ra, is available simultaneously in Legendary Collection! Whether you’re an old-time Battle City fan, or you’re discovering the legacy of the Pharaohs for the first time, now you can wield the power of Marik for yourself!

Interesting, this is probably whre we will see Legal Ra

But still, this structure deck is very much a suprise. What a time for it to return. About, 9 years too late. XD

Though, theres some interesting stuff in here, should be amusing to flick though anyways.

Lentra - 24. Jun, 15:47

Why would we see a playable Ra here?

The sales copy specifically points out that Ra (likely the unplayable version) is available simultaneously in the Legendary Collection. The chances of the tournament-legal Ra being in the deck are about the same as Konami finally allowing OCG cards in TCG tournaments.
OMGulator - 24. Jun, 12:04

A nice surprise

I can welcome some of the choices here such as common versions of Metal Reflect Slime, Mirror Force and Lava Golem but we all know how terribad legal Ra is.

DIOS_GALE - 24. Jun, 12:45

jajaja konami

Yes mirror force common, and october SE duelist revolution confirmed gold sarcophagus and drill warrior yeah konami!!
I love you!!!!!!!!!!! Dad super, vayu super and chimeratech super yeahhhh! =)

darkarmeddragon666 - 24. Jun, 13:26

common mirror

if its here, what will we get in the dragonuity SD? solemn? pwwb?
ywontuc - 24. Jun, 15:19

Common Mirro Force

Just in time for wide spread Starlight Road (fail song). Beside that point im still glad to add a lot of additions to my collection even i still use mirror force even if it is dead grr.

ShiroRyu - 24. Jun, 16:06

OMG WHAT THIS IS SO GOOD I CAN'T EVEN

Although I think you're pre-judging Mirror Force. We know 2 of the Ultra Rares are Temple of the Kings and Serket (which is amazing btw, seeing how broken Temple of the Kings is in traditional), and there are 3 in the deck so it's possible Mirror Force could still be Ultra. But, it'll still be easily obtainable, which is incredibly awesome.

Also, while we have been waiting for this for years now, at least we're not getting a carbon copy of the OCG version, with additional cards like Metal Reflect Slime and the previously-mentioned OCG exclusives in here at the least.

Also, it says "don't forget that Marik's most famous monster, The Winged Dragon of Ra is available simultaneously in Legendary Collection", which I see as proof legal Ra isn't in here, otherwise there'd be no point mentioning it (since you'd already be getting Ra). However, I feel we will be getting legal Ra soon, for whoever wants it.

In any case, this is a great opportunity for a whole lot of classic cards to get the new reduced-margin layout design, which I'm a big fan of. :P

An Onyx Mouse - 27. Jun, 04:30

The 3rd Ultra Rare will more than likely be Lava Golem, as

A) it was one of his more famous non-God monsters, particularly in his duel with Joey,
and B) in the OCG Marik deck, it was the cover card.
ShiroRyu - 27. Jun, 14:15

True about Lava Golem, I'm just saying that everyone's assuming Mirror Force is common whilst the 3rd Ultra isn't confirmed yet.
J4B0i - 24. Jun, 19:18

So y'all don't think legal RA is the third Ultra? =\ Why make 2 reprints of illegal RA, though?

ShiroRyu - 25. Jun, 00:18

I'm not saying illegal Ra is in this deck, I'm simply saying that based on their comment, it's highly likely that Ra isn't in this deck period. If they do put it in however, it'll probably be the legal version, but I'm betting on it not being in at all.
Deckman - 24. Jun, 19:27

Common Mirror AT LAST. I can get rid of my japanese one...

LOL @ the price of Mirror Force.

slypher2005 - 24. Jun, 21:03

OMG seeing nearly 6 cards in this set I was screaming insided and foaming at the mouth.

Setosama - 25. Jun, 01:50

All I can say is...

ABOUT FREAKING TIME!!!!!!!

JESUS! ONLY TOOK YOU TEN FREAKING YEARS!!!

I'd say come out with structure decks for Yugi and Kaiba now as well... But we got the Duelist Packs for them so that's HIGHLY unlikely.

tsog - 25. Jun, 03:35

F*ck Yeah!!!!

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!
Best news today! (Even tops Isner beating Mahut in the longest tennis match ever)
I collect ban cards and have waited YEARS for temple of kings (aka cathedral of nobles) to come to TCG.
Now the only thing left is sixth sense and I would be so happy!!!!!!

As for common mirror force, about time they did that. Now I might as well trade off my 3x mrd mirror forces before it gets devalued.

Black masked emporor - 12. Oct, 02:56

sorry to tell you this but as soon as mirror force was announced in the deck the others values took a hit
bloodchidori - 25. Jun, 13:38

Bout time

every1 nos marik (evil version) was the most bad ass character in that season. i cant wait ill be able ot make a rlly fun deck instead of one that pwns every1 in less than 3 turns. :I ill be able to drag it put lol

Zardis - 25. Jun, 14:45

Marik is Great!

Marik is an awesome character in the series and I have been waiting waaaay too long to get his SD, now it's on its way! AWESOME! xD
I have NEVER bought, or pulled, or traded a Mirror Force lol. I knew someday it had to come as a common xDD

Infernity Zero - 13. Jul, 02:48

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
xehenort - 25. Jun, 21:56

Mirror force for everyone.

Finally Konami makes mirror force accesible for all players, this is good for new players and the game will be intresting with more players having access to these cards after years. I have had mirror force since it was out but many of my friends have suffered to get one.

Black masked emporor - 12. Oct, 02:59

suppose its not a good time to say i get a mirror foarce in nearlly all the mrd boxes i bought (ironically i traded all but 1 away then i go and lose the other :'( )
Onzee - 25. Jun, 22:53

Mirror n Makyura common

ohh yea

Lentra - 26. Jun, 00:47

No Makyura.

It's a tournament-legal deck, so I don't see Makyura being in there. The only way it might end up in the deck and still be tournament legal is on that off chance that he comes off the ban list in September - which is highly unlikely.
Zardis - 30. Jun, 23:30

Not necessarily...

Don't u see the Temple of the Kings?? That is a banned card... if it wasn't 90% of people who play YGO would quit in the spot!
ShiroRyu - 1. Jul, 01:52

True but...

the description says it's a "40-card tournament legal deck", and "As a special bonus, Structure Deck: Marik also includes 2 additional Ultra Rare cards: Temple of the Kings and Mystical Beast of Serket!"

So, no Makyura. Unless Makyura comes back in the September banlist, which I doubt very much, since he was banned before we got cards like Foolish Burial and the various Lightsworns, which make him even more broken than he was before.
In fact, on the issue of Trap activation, I'd say Makyura's more broken than Temple of the Kings, since TotK can easily be MST'd etc, while once Makyura hits the grave his effect's not going to be stopped.
Infernity Zero - 25. Jul, 18:16

@ ShiroRyu
DIVINE WRATH!!!!! now what?
RavenFromHell - 28. Jul, 17:14

how about snatch steal in previous SD's? thats an illegal card as well
Black masked emporor - 12. Oct, 03:00

all structure decks are focused on traditional format
ShinobiPhoenix - 26. Jun, 07:10

How does "Ra is in the Legendary Collection" = "Ra is in this Deck" with people?

I mean I've heard of people just purposely misreading things because they preferred something untruthful but pleasure to the hard truth, but GOD DAMN. This is just bordering on blatant stupid.

It's the Marik Structure Deck, they mention Ra because Ra IS known to be Marik's card. That's all.

IT'S CALLED UPSELLING, PEOPLE!!!! Buy this deck and don't forget Marik's BIG card is not in this, but you can get it if you get this OTHER product, but that isn't legal, but you can have the legal one if you buy this OTHER OTHER PRODUCT much later.

UPSELLING.

ShiroRyu - 26. Jun, 13:41

Pretty much what I was saying. If Ra was in this deck, then they wouldn't need to remind you you can get it in a separate product as well. Sort of like those tip cards in Duelist Packs, showing you other products you can get in order to get a whole combo.
ywontuc - 27. Jun, 14:50

Kids need to learn how to read :(

"also includes 2 additional Ultra Rare cards: Temple of the Kings and Mystical Beast of Serket" this line means that ultra rare number two and 3 is Temple of the Kings and Mystical Beast Serket respectfully
"Please note: Temple of the Kings will be a Forbidden card for Advanced Format tournament play" this line means unless you play traditional format both cards are unusable or for easier terms collectors items
"And don’t forget that Marik’s most famous monster, The Winged Dragon of Ra, is available simultaneously in Legendary Collection!"
This means that illegal ra is not in the deck but the collection and that legal is either another bad jump promo "dragon golem" or a secret in one of the upcoming sets. I'm pulling for option 1.

Infernity Zero - 13. Jul, 02:45

Honestly I think Ra should be remade. The company should recall all sh#tty versions of the Ultra Mega Chicken, and give them a copy that actually has at least 1 effect Ra originally had. They chopped his poor wings off.... :`(
Black masked emporor - 12. Oct, 03:03

all they have to do is post card erata online and the one printed effect becomes invalid and the posted one becomes valid so they wouldnt need to recall them
yugi1234456 - 27. Jun, 20:23

killing

1) they better make mirror force an ultra
it is too good to be a common

2) they are killing traders and sellers, i mean a big boost to players but there is a big loss in trying to get the cards you need...

3)what is with konomi? old decks, a new "master collection"
and making all the best cards, into mini easy to get cards there is no thrill anymore
(though i guess i like some of them...)

ShiroRyu - 28. Jun, 00:17

1) It's been common in OCG forever. It's not 'too good to be common', we had Pot of Greed as common (when it was legal even).

2) This happens all the time.

3) Unfortunately not everyone can afford a booster box a month or round abouts that, and you get some amazing players who could easily top major tournaments but can't because they can't afford such-and-such, making the tournament-toppers pretty much people who earn more money.

IMO I like it how this is. I have secret JD, Dark Armed, 2 Mirror Force, etc. and I don't have a problem with these cards becoming easier to get, because it brings a lot more players into the competitive play area by allowing them access to these cards. So now the only difference between lots of money and not as much money is that players with more money can foil up their decks more by using the rarer versions, which makes sense.

Aside from Kristya/Barrier/Emmersblade, that is. :/ But hey, progress is progress.
ShiroRyu - 28. Jun, 00:22

I find it funny how it classes Mystical Beast of Serket as a forbidden card. I know it's a rather pointless outside of Skill Drain in advanced format, and even then rather pointless, but it's not forbidden.

Anyway, pointless observation is pointless. :p

penguar321 - 28. Jun, 06:42

gonna be a fun deck for collection

I'm gonna want the temple of kings and the mystical beast serket for collection reasons. It's about time mirror force got it's common treatment. I don't need it, but i'll like a bunch of extra copies. Might give a few commons away to the kids at my locals that don't have money for the decks, lol. I don't know, but it's official now: When this deck comes out, mirror force is will longer be an expensive card.

chorikawa - 28. Jun, 07:02

Strange

Why would they ban Temple of the Kings continuous spell card? You need that card to special summon Mystical Beast of Serket.

An Onyx Mouse - 28. Jun, 07:41

The effect. As long as its out, you can activate Traps the turn you set them.

It hit the Limited list in the OCG back in April of 2006, was Forbidden September that same year, and has been there ever since.

For example, consider this card in combination with Scrap-Iron Scarecrow. Instead of blocking 1 attack per turn, you can now block every attack your opponent throws at you for free, each and every turn.
ShiroRyu - 28. Jun, 10:39

Not only that...

...but the effect allows you to Special Summon almost any monster from your hand, Deck or Extra Deck. You need a Stardust Dragon? You've got one. Want a Cyber End Dragon so you can Limiter for game? Go for it. How about an Armor Master? Gottoms? Any card you want that can be Special Summoned, you can pull out with this, making it the ultimate searcher. And it's not like Serket is hard to get out. You can even use Valhalla if you really want to.

But yeah, the use traps the turn you set them is cool too. Throw down a Trap Stun and use it to protect whatever you're going to do in that turn from counters, seems pretty good. Or, any of those trap cards that are so much better to use on your turn? Reckless Greed for example.

Anyway yeah. Far too many reasons to ban Temple of the Kings I'm afraid. More ban-worthy than a lot of currently banned cards.
nicko9000 - 5. Aug, 15:57

Bye bye mirror force

Great, now we can expect mirror force to be rebanned next march.
Since every tom, dick and harry will soon have a mirror force in their deck, it's only a matter of time before it's no longer allowed.

skyphertheslydragon - 10. Aug, 01:13

mirror force

Mirror Force was actually on one of the original Ban Lists back in either 2005 or 2006. It came off about 1 format later and hasn't been banned since. I believe that the only reason it got banned was because Dark Hole was removed from the ban list at the same time.
demeitri - 8. Aug, 00:43

makes no sense

@nicko9000

dude, every tom dick an harry already has mirror force as a staple in their deck lolol...so ur talking crap!

RavenFromHell - 8. Aug, 17:37

you're talking plain crap... i'm your average tom, dick or harry, and i DON'T have a mirror force.. thats why i'm hoping that CotH and Cylinder are getting in: i need those still, and want to not have to buy singles...
ShinobiPhoenix - 26. Aug, 22:06

As said by those who realize it, it's the same as the original Structure (even Wikia recognizes that and they argue everything).

There's no Call of the Haunted (Bakura Card) or Magic Cylinder (Yugi card).

I will ask why do you need to look so hard though? It would help you to know Magic Cylinder has been common in TCG FIVE (5) times. All in Structure Decks.

Starter Deck 2006 (YSD-EN040 - C)
Starter Deck: Jaden Yuki (YSDJ-EN040 - C)
Starter Deck: Syrus Truesdale (YSDS-EN038 - C)
Structure Deck 6: Spellcaster's Judgment (SD6-EN036 - C)
Structure Deck: Spellcaster's Command (SDSC-EN038 - C)

Do you really need it in this deck? The newer Spellcaster Deck is still fairly new and available.

Call of the Haunted was a Common nine (9) separate times. 7 of them in Structure Decks.

Duelist Pack 4: Zane Truesdale (DP04-EN025 - C)
Retro Pack 2 (RP02-EN006 - C)
Structure Deck 1: Dragon's Roar (SD1-EN021 - C)
Structure Deck 3: Blaze of Destruction (SD3-EN028 - C)
Structure Deck 4: Fury from the Deep (SD4-EN027 - C)
Structure Deck 5: Warrior's Triumph (SD5-EN033 - C)
Structure Deck 6: Spellcaster's Judgment (SD6-EN032 - C)
Structure Deck 8: Lord of the Storm (SD8-EN030 - C)
Structure Deck: Rise of the Dragon Lords (SDRL-EN034 - C)

I would suggest going to a flea market if you can't find any of those old decks (including Rise of the Dragon Lords), where people sell the older decks. I did that and picked up a lot of reprints I needed well below the retail price. Some of those decks aren't popular, so they will be much easier to find at good prices.
ShiroRyu - 8. Oct, 00:50

It's not the same as the original. I thought it might be when I saw that Lava Golem was -EN014 (same number as OCG Marik's Lava Golem), but OCG Marik didn't have Metal Reflect Slime or Gil Garth.
RavenFromHell - 13. Aug, 11:14

Gravekeeper's

i'm hoping on 3 guards or 2 and 2 or 3 spies...
i could use them in other decks ^^

ShinobiPhoenix - 26. Aug, 22:08

Curse, Spear Soldier, Chief.

As commons.
RavenFromHell - 7. Sep, 19:19

those too of course, but i'm hoping to get spy for synchro summoning :p
BlackwingDuelist - 18. Aug, 03:43

Ugh

i wish koonami would hurry up with the deck list

Crow_soars_free - 27. Aug, 02:32

Not Really

Gil Garth and Metal Reflect slime were not OCG deck
in addition to the fact that the ocg deck had 15 more cards in it
I think they changed a small part of the deck due to changes in ban list and in what cards have been released in the TCG. dont forget it has been six years. A lot of changes have been made.
ShinobiPhoenix - 15. Sep, 21:39

That's a little overstating.

Legendary Devil wasn't in either. Changes for this and the ban list reason were expected, but not many to be fair.

Makyura the Destructor is banned.
Monster Reborn is currently legal, so otherwise, that would be thought to be removed.

Had they planned this ahead, they intend to have it stay in deck else it would just be one of the replaced by Gil Garth and Metal Reflect and Legendary Devil. That said, if we do get to keep it, I don't know what would be taken out besides the vanillas and horrible crap ones.

I think we should expect at least:

Revival Jam
Guardian Sphinx (theme)
Dark Jeroid
Newdoria (support)
the 3 GK's
Drillago (anime, used in 4 Marik episodes)
Byser Shock (we may and may not see this, but it is due a reprint as we only have it as Ultras)

Rejected:
An Owl of Luck (if this deck is supposed to be functional, it has zero use with no Necrovalley and not Field Magics otherwise).
Humanoid Slime (Metal Reflect Slime easily replaces it)
Jam Defender
Non-Spellcasting Area (remove the pointless Vanillas and this becomes largely useless)
Rite of Spirit (only 3 GK's)

Everything else is a take it/leave it maybe whether it has a use or not.
skyphertheslydragon - 17. Sep, 21:57

Byser Shock

I am pretty sure that Yami Marik used both Byser Shock and Viser Des in the manga. Byser Shock might have a good chance of staying in here due to that. Viser Des is less likely since it was printed in Absolute Powerforce, which was re-released in this year's holiday tins. In regards to Monster Reborn, it will probably be in here.

Regarding my earlier comment on Mirror Force, I looked up the original ban lists and the first one was in September 2004. This one did not have Mirror Force, or Monster Reborn on it. Monster Reborn was banned the next format and Mirror Force was banned at that same time.
skyphertheslydragon - 1. Sep, 02:05

I am looking forward to this deck, (not just for the Mirror Force reprint either). Lately I have been building Traditional format based original series character decks, due to the duelist packs. I have a rough idea of how to build a Marik deck as well as a Joey deck too.

Of coursed those decks are way to unstable to compete with, even if I made them Advanced format. I guess that they only work in the anime.

I wish I could use the legal Ra in my Marik deck when it comes out, but it's effect is really bad (in my opinion that is).

bmxbunnie17 - 12. Sep, 19:35

good deck

i hope all the gravekeepers come in this seeing as me and my boyfriend wanna build the deck mirror force is allways nice and i will add temple of the king to my collection of banned cards

lucariogx - 15. Sep, 21:56

cover monster is gonna be lava golem? lame

Whoa_Rorro - 19. Sep, 03:17

Lava Golem?!?! Seriusly?!

Lava golem as an ultra rare reprint, craptacular...

Hoping for a Gravekeerper´s Spy reimpresion and a Monster Reborn...

Anyways the sad truth its a bounch of reimpresed shit like drillago, granadora and bowganian... Lol

RavenFromHell - 24. Sep, 18:49

Gravekeeper's United

hmm...
someone on the wiki just (about an hour ago, as i'm writing this) put down the entire gravekeeper's list as cards in the Deck..
can anyone confirm? =D

Infernity Zero - 25. Sep, 13:51

Nope, it's not on there anymore. However, there is a possibility that MOST of the GKs will be in there (I doubt we'll see any of the newer cards like the Necrovalley-searcher one).
RavenFromHell - 28. Sep, 15:04

wasnt the necrovalley-searcher (commandant i believe) one of the earlier GK's? he was in FOTB, and the others were in? (really dunno)
skyphertheslydragon - 28. Sep, 16:09

Gravekeeper's Commandant was in FOTB, while the original Gravekeeper monsters and supports were in Pharaonic Guardian. It is possible that most of the original GKs are in this. Commandant is less likely though. I think both Necrovalley and Commandent were recently reprinted anyway, I just don't remember what they were in (possible a Turbo Pack, due to the new supports of GKs in ABPF).
ShiroRyu - 8. Oct, 00:48

Check out the latest article, Malevolent Catastrophe is in here: http://www.konami.com/yugioh/articles/?p=2324
The picture they use uses the new borders, and if you look closely you can make out SDMA in the code.

Red-Eyes Darkness Girl - 10. Oct, 11:30

Woot

I'm totally getting three of these babies.

Black masked emporor - 12. Oct, 03:14

your lucky i have to buy 3 for me and 3 for my missus
GUN - 13. Oct, 23:02

Holy,

Im getting three of these.

Mirror force, allure of darkness, book of moon, complete gravekeeper deck. Foolish burial,

Awesome.

ShiroRyu - 14. Oct, 00:50

So the list is out

I am surprised at the lack of Monster Reborn, considering both it's recent un-banning and since it was quite a prominent part of Marik's deck (sending Ra to the grave and then Reborning it for an OTK). It's making me think perhaps they have other plans for Reborn this format, like perhaps a CP04 reprint.

In any case, very awesome deck, I'll definitely get 3. Mirror Force aside, the Foolish, Book and Spy reprints are enough for me, and the fact everything uses the new Series 7 layout for cards like Mystic Tomato, Lava Golem, Allure and Creature Swap is a big plus too. :)

rojeelio - 14. Oct, 01:52

seires 7 layout?

anyone mind filling me in on how the series 7 cards look different?

Lentra - 14. Oct, 04:42

If you compare recent cards (I believe it started for us with Gold Series 3) to older ones, you'll notice the upper margin (between the card border and name) is much smaller and the card text box at the bottom is slightly larger.
MasterSephiroth - 14. Oct, 07:21

Nope...

I think it started for us with either Starter Deck 2010 or Duelist League 9 on German (these one's with Colossal Fighter and stuff in Green, Bronze etc. Rare)...in Japan it started with Sin Truth Dragon Promo if I mind right.
Azuh - 14. Oct, 10:46

Gravekeeper's
Allure of Darkness
Foolish Burial
Book of Moon
Mirror Force
Metal Reflect Slime

This deck is actually very nice. The lack of Stele though sorta makes me cry a little though

TheDarkAngelRocket - 24. Oct, 17:25

Re: Azuh

You might as well just collect the deck for Gravekeeper's anyway.
This is not a true Marik structure deck, however.
It can't be without Helpoemer, Granadora, Lord Poison, Makuyra the Destructor (granted it's banned but two or three other cards are as well), and Revival Jam.
MasterSephiroth - 15. Oct, 14:08

Tempel of the Kings...

...is cool..exspecialy because here in switzerland i can play it at 3 until it is on the official banned list and this won't be done until the 19th of October were it will be released in america...therefore...i play temple of the kings/exodia ftk and i win...oO

ywontuc - 15. Oct, 17:59

sorry to say :(

Anything before it's release date is technically banned for more on this read about duel terminal before the cards are massed released.
But everything that has been printed in prior decks and packs that are counted as mass releases are legal.
